Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.
Hours are published for 4 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–4 pm. It is closed on Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Dogwood Dental at (919) 556-0444; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, dogwood.dental.
Customers rate it 4.9 out of 5 on Google across 108 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded cosmetic dentists in Wake Forest.
Wake Forest is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Wake Forest is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. May’s for about 2 years. I worked in the dental field for 26 years, so I’ve seen how a dental office should and should not operate. Dogwood Dental is run like a fine oiled machine. There’s a calming sense about the atmosphere and the Doctor himself. Dr. May takes pride in his work and the staff works very well with him. The office is impressively equipped with the most up to date equipment for your care. I am happy to say I am an established patient and I am reassured that Dogwood Dental is there if I need them.

Great atmosphere, incredibly professional, excellent work, very accommodating and flexible. I mean why are you even considering other dental offices…Dogwood Dental is the best in the Triangle hands down.

Dr. May, Jade and team are wonderful. I have been going to this office location since the 90s and they've done an incredible job at maintaining the historic space and keeping long-term patients happy! I needed a front tooth veneer, just one, which is not easy; other dentists told me they'd have to do both front teeth or the front four. Dr May respected that I only wanted one and he matched it perfectly! His attention to detail and the kind staff made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the process.

I have finally found my dentist. For years, I’ve been sent all over for things like root canals and extractions, so finding a place that can handle everything under one roof has been such a relief. My first interaction was with Leasa, who helped me on her day off to get an urgent x-ray… who does that?! From there, the whole team just confirmed it — Jade walked me through everything and made it all feel manageable, and Dr. May is thorough, calm, and gives you a clear plan without it feeling overwhelming. Also… Cooper 🐾 their Cavalier King Charles might be the best emotional support I didn’t know I needed. The world needs more Coopers. And as someone who appreciates a good space — their office in a converted historic building in downtown Wake Forest has so much character. I’m just really grateful I found them. If you’ve been putting off dental work… this is your place.
